2020 Domaine Arnaud Baillot Pommard versus 2020 Arnaud Baillot Pommard 1er Cru Les Charmots
I wanted to do a village level Pommard against a premier cru plot to see how much difference it was, as I got a lot of enquiries about the differences. In short, a world apart! The village of Pommard is situated between Volnay and Beaune, in the past, a lot of wine critics gave a very high rating for this village. Les Charmots is a plot located north of Pommard village. The village wine is like a young lady who has not reached matured age yet, perhaps a college student, as the content is a bit skinny with the lack of matured fruits. On the other hand, the premier cru wine is akin to a wise and very matured lady, perhaps holding a high post in the corporate world, with a steady hand. The content is fully matured with a style geared towards feminine elegance, very enjoyable. I highly recommend you to grab a bottle of premier cru Les Charmots, it’s truly a very enjoyable wine at a decent price.
